Snowflake: A Soliloquy

In another life, I was Rumi's single drop, 
the ocean tear, which is to say, "I" was not
but i defied logic—this cold glitter flake, 
poet's mascara on winter sky temptress—
I had swallowed a Star
in that single grain of black sand,
where all the colors danced the language before Time laughed
liquid into my lungs—

No matter how many ways you papercut 
and unfold the origami of a creature in density, 
we all share the same 
destiny:
To fall
Whether your scissors are seasons 
or lover's words that slice a heart's umbilical blink to the Sun 
or blank stares from wrinkled faces to strange familial voices,

Liberation is 
evaporation

As the month of March begins with the conflicts in the Middle East, just in time for that volatile, eruptive Mars square Uranus, we must prepare for an astrological month of some potential chaos and shapeshifting. Most importantly, how can we tame our own ignition and reactivity, our ego or Nafs in the Sufi tradition. Praying with each bite of food, bringing mindfulness and divine remembrance into every act we offer to our sustainer, maintaining vigilance in our own reactivity, and learning to recognize the Divine Hand in all acts - which may be the lower ego’s greatest education - all of this will become more challenging when Venus enters Aries, touching Neptune, then Saturn, Mar 6-9 and the Sun does the same for Spring Equinox Mar 20th.

We must integrate the Spiritual essence and divine imagination that Neptune’s portal open, without delusions, and then ground, and make real the vision through the discipline of Saturn, with commitment to accountability.
